"A complete overhaul of the way people navigate the internet has been given the go ahead in Paris." "The net's regulator, Icann, voted unanimously to relax the strict
rules on so-called "top-level" domain names, such as .com or .uk.
The decision means that companies could turn brands into web addresses, while individuals could use their names.
A second proposal, to introduce domain names written in scripts, such as Asian and Arabic, was also approved.
"We are opening up a new world and I think this

Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann)."

Oh awesome...so now we make it even harder to get people to type in URLs properly. Ask yourself this... what key combo will we use to get the plethora of up and coming tld names to fill in automatically. is it not easier to stick to just the country based ones? are we not now asking for a whole bunch of stupid length urls to appear?
Whatever happened to the friendly URLs? making things shorter and quicker to enter? .xxx domains for porn, well ok, that makes sense, but a whole bunch of .balls, not so.
I cant wait for the call from my comms department now...oh we would like to register a gazillion of these so noone else can have them...crack on son. and so another feck knows how many administrators across the world breath out a sigh as they approach their apache and iis virtuals and host header configs for more additions to the family cause the freindly url rewrites just didnt quite annoy enough...
ahhhh whatever....
